‘Delhi-Meri Jaan’

Shopping- it’s a rejuvenation dose to me. I can vouch on it that it’s not only me indeed every girl is crazy for shopping. This is a pacifier against daily-woes. Be it an upset day at work, stress or any other problem, shopping in Delhi is a tide-changer and mood-swinger for all.

I am certainly not against the men folk, who are equally crazy over shopping, but then yes, there’s something to it that makes us tagged as shopaholics. I absolutely don’t mind being one. Why not? Yes, we shop and this is an apt term for the same. There have been ample times, when with no specific reason while driving back to home from work, I end up parking my car bang opposite to the market, better known as Central market.

I am from Mumbai, but from the last five years have been working with an auto-mobile based company in New Delhi. To be honest, when I migrated to the city, I was a bit pessimistic and though apart from my hometown, I just cannot adept with surrounding of other places.  I love my Mumbai, so as everyone does and I’m a bit biased.

But over the years, I have made so many friends that I have had never thought of. All I was aiming at prior to travel, will go and if in any case, I like the place, will extend the stay. I had a clear funda that I just won’t be friends with anyone and everyone. But Delhi is so damn cool that no matter which region you are from, what age bracket you are in or what aims and targets you have had in your mind, Delhi whole heartedly embrace you, fulfilling all your aspirations.

Now when I recall, I realize how wrong I was, people here are so damn cool, you feel like taking to them. No two people are same and have traits of their own. Be it a café in Delhi or ever-crowded markets, there’s a celebration all over and which makes me say ‘Deli-meri-jaan’.

To all those friends who have been planning to shift to this magical land, do not think twice. There’s an array of things lined up awaiting...

Gym Essentials for Fitness Freaks: A Beginner’s Guide

Have you just got a membership in a Delhi's best gym? In any case, don’t let that empty gym bag stare at you right in your face. Fill it up with fitness essentials if you want your workout to be productive. Saket Citywalk mall is one of Delhi’s shopping centres where you can easily find all the things you need for your gym bag. Even though every gym bag differs according to an individual’s goals, yet there are a few must-haves that you couldn’t do without.

Select Citywalk - Kids play zone in New Delhi

So stock up your gym bag with the following fitness essentials for a successful workout session at a
Delhi gym:

  • Comfortable training clothes.
Without quality training clothes, your workout is probably going to be a miserable failure. So, if you plan to hit the gym after a long day at work, remind yourself to grab some breathable, well-fitted clothing for your workout! It would save you from the catastrophe of not being able to find your shorts in the locker room while you’re getting ready for the workout.

  • Good quality shoes.
You don’t want to show up at a Delhi gym in a pair of sandals. That would be a complete disaster! Running shoes are fine to begin with. Once you become an advanced lifter, you can get a pair of cross-trainers. Also, remember to make sure that they are able to provide you adequate support for the type of training you choose to do.

  • Towel
Sweating is a normal phenomenon in a gym and you are about to soak yourself in it sufficiently. You do realize that you will need something to wipe yourself with. A towel should definitely be counted as a gym essential.

  • Music
Did you know that music has a lot to do with motivation? Most people like to exercise with their headphones on. Haven’t you wondered why? It’s because your personal collection will deliver the best results than the mainstream music you find playing at these gyms. Apart from your phone, you should make it a habit to never leave your house without a pair of headphones too. You know, just to feel motivated at all times!

So if you follow these tips and tricks, your beginner’s workout will be a sorted deal. All you are left to do is go to a Delhi's shopping centre and get hold of the things you may not already have for a productive workout. Happy gymming!

Making Junk Food healthy

Your absolute love for junk food aptly explains that additional layer of flab, not to forget the high cholesterol and sugar levels. You thoroughly understand that junk food is nothing but a silent killer, yet you can't just get over them. However, with some sensible tips and techniques, junk food can be made, well, less junk in nature.

Here is what restaurants in Delhi and Cafes in Delhi should imbibe in their culinary regimens to avoid making food entirely junk.

Using less butter : Yes, those extra layers of cheese and mayonnaise taste heavenly, only that the health effects of consuming them are not. Restaurants should go in for lesser cheese and sauces in their stuff to make it healthier and all the more appetizing for people.

Using wholegrain bread: Instead of using bread made of flour, cafes and restaurants should resort to healthier practises of using brown bread or wholegrain bread in sandwiches. They are a good option for easy digestion and help keep the metabolism going.

Grilling instead of frying: Burgers and non veg dishes are better, and lesser loaded with calories when grilled. They can always slash off the fat from the meat before grilling to make it even healthier. Going for baked meats and boiled chicken also helps.

Cutting thicker chips for fries: We all love french fries, don’t we? And cutting out on them is an impossibility. But what if we cut thicker slices so that they absorb less oil and stay polite to our health? That would be great now, wouldn't it?

Start using live oil or flaxseed oil: Junk food is cooked in oil, and will always be cooked in oil. But restaurants can definitely make better choices for oil. Using olive or flaxseed oil can be a way better, and a healthier option.
