Tips for Shopping on a Budget

Shopping is one of those activities that one does not really need an occasion for, it can be done anytime and anywhere. Unlike some other activities that are more need based or require more than one person, shopping can be done without needing any reason. Shopping in Delhi is truly a pleasure since there are so many places and areas where one can get wonderful items. Whether one is looking for budget and cheap trinkets or one wants to get the best of best, like high end international brands, all of them can be found in this city. Delhi has got something for everyone, no matter what one might be looking for it can all be found here. Delhi has always been recognized as an important center of trade, which has spanned from the times of medieval era, more so for the northern India.

Some of the most prominent markets in Delhi have taken their names from ancient trading towns, but the fact that just allures people to Delhi even more is that along with these generations old market, one can also find modern shopping malls and complexes. This mix of modern and traditional makes Delhi a heaven for avid shoppers. As tourist one can find all manners of items which reflect the rich culture of our country, from authentic jewellery, to carpets, handicrafts, silverwares and precious silks and wool. As a native, one will already know all the nooks and crannies that provide just what one is looking for.

However, Delhi shopping for new migrants to Delhi or even natives can be a bit difficult, with rising prices and budget issues. The ones that face the most issue are college students or those who are not yet earning a lot, like those working in start-ups or junior level positions. These are the people, which need to make a budget for their shopping limits and need to be careful of what they buy. Everyone needs to shop, that is granted, but the point is how one shops, and when one shops that can make the world of difference. Thus, for those that are still not able to do budget shopping, here are a few tips which can help one buy the things that one wants and still save a bit of cash at the end of the day:

1. Look for Sales:

This tip is perhaps the most obvious one and still something that many people do not give enough attention to. Delhi is filled with shopping markets, malls and retail shops; however, the secret to budget shopping is buying items when there is a sale. And one does not need to worry that there won’t be a lot of sales, instead almost every shop hold multiple sales. From season end sale, to sale during the festival times and sometimes certain brands also have special discounts on account of an anniversary or other such milestone.

2. Buy Multi- Use Items:

Make sure that when one does go shopping, to buy items that can be used multiple times. Try to go for neutral and subtle colors that can be mixed and matched in several different ways. Also limit the purchase of pants and lowers in favour of buying shirts and upper wears. One can still use the same lowers many times; however it is the upper clothing that is noticed.

3. Select Where to Buy:

There are many places to shop in Delhi, from the affluent Select Citywalk mall to the small markets like Janpath and Sarojini Nagar. What one has to decide on is where to buy their items from. Now, one does not need to think that a mall will have only expensive items, as even there sales and budget shops exist that one can buy from.

4. Shop in Off Season:

It is widely known that many brands almost slice the prices by half during the off season. This is a helpful tip that one can use when buying necessities as one can buy summer clothing in winters and vice versa and the price will be drastically lower as compared to when they are in season.

COFFEE IS HEROIC

I don’t trust people who don’t like coffee. Like really! Who doesn’t love coffee? Cafes in delhi and other metropolitan cities serve coffee combining it with different flavors and making it even more attractive. Morning coffees or night coffees, they all are welcome. And why wouldn’t they be, when they provide health benefits in addition to deliciousness. Here’s a list of health benefits of coffee that make it a perfect beverage.

  • Coffee burns fat: - Caffeine is one of the very few natural substances that burn fat. • Coffee lowers risk of type 2 diabetes: -We often hear about people suffering from type 2 diabetes and number of deaths caused due to diabetes is increasing rapidly. • Coffee fights depressions and make you happier: - Heartbreaks or bad exam results, there are a lot of day to day happenings that give us pain to an extent that makes us feel like there’s no way out to live a happy life. To combat with such mental sufferings and depressions, a cup of coffee works in wondrous ways. Coffee makes you happy. My Love For Shoes

Gone are the days when people gave no thought to the choice of their footwear. The importance of wearing the right kind of shoes cannot be overemphasized. It is practically impossible to go on with our lives with a single pair of footwear in this day and age. Can you imagine wearing the same pair at home, to work, to the market, or to any other event/party/marriage? I am sure you just shook your head.

My sister and I have an entire cabinet dedicated to the storage of our shoes, sandals, slippers, and all kinds of footwear. We recently visited one of the well-known shopping malls in India. The purpose of our visit was to shop for apparel-office and casual both (since we both are working). But we just could not stop ourselves from entering the inviting shoe stores. Men can never understand the love for shoes we women have. And to be very honest, even though we have so many pairs of footwear, we still don’t have enough. I forgot to mention before that half of them are old, worn out, or uncomfortable. My sister and I have almost the same shoe size, so we do have many common pairs. But there is something very wrong in the way she naturally walks (she knows that). All of her footwear become bootless within a few days.  And there is so much variety of shoes in Delhi. When we go to a mall or a market, we simply can’t avoid staring at all the lovely pairs. And we can’t just stare; we have to buy too, right?

Now that I have started talking about shoes, I would tell you about a funny incident that happened in my life. My mother, my sister, and I had gone to a local market near our house.  Our mother wanted to buy vegetables and we had just accompanied her. While she was bargaining, my sister and I suddenly spotted a newly opened shoe shop. We promised ourselves that we would just ‘peek through’ and come back. But old habits die hard. We went in and scanned all shelves, and came out with 2 bags full of shoes. I would never forget the expression on my mother’s face when she saw us with the bags. That day that amazing shoe store became our favourite shop. It has always been of great help in emergency situations (for instance, cousin’s wedding tonight and we forgot to buy matching footwear).

By now you must have comprehended the depth of our love for shoes. If not, you must see us shopping once!

The Father-Daughter Movie Buffs

While downloading the latest movies has become the trend with my generation, I still like to catch a new movie the old-fashioned way. And so I impatiently await each Friday when some new movie or the other hits the cinemas.

Battling the urge to go on ‘torrent’ and download the latest movies, or simply streaming it online –as easy as it all really is- I don’t quite enjoy a movie on my laptop’s tiny screen. No, I want the big, shiny silver screen experience. I’d go to Select Citywalk and watch check out a movie at PVR than on my laptop anyday! In my world, that’s how a movie ought to be watched.

Perhaps this love for movies and movie theatres alike has stemmed from my father. Ever since I can remember, movies have always been a ‘father-daughter’ thing for me. From Antz to Titanic, Babe in the Big City, Lion King… the days of my childhood are filled with memories of my father and I catching the first show of every good movie that hit the cinemas.

If you had to go to pvr and you planned to go to cafe in delhi all you had to do was ask us, we knew it all! Back then, and even now, kids my age would want to go with their friends for movies… But not me! Being the daddy’s girl that I was, I couldn’t even begin to fathom watching a good movie in the theatre without my father! So I’d end up watching all the Harry Potter movies twice –first with my father, and then my friends.

Even now, when my friends want to go to Select Citywalk to catch a movie, I always check first with my father. If he hasn’t watched it, then sorry guys, in a few days! I may not be a little girl anymore, but I have a gut feeling this ritual is going to go on for evermore –maybe even my kids will love to go to the movies with their grandfather!

Hope she likes the gift too!!

Choosing a gift is something that I have had avoided. The reason being, the moment I think of buying anything, I get overtly conscious as if someone has asked me to climb the Everest, without giving me instructions. I know might sound weird to many, but this is something that has consistently been with me.  I do not know, what makes me so very conscious of the fact that I will have to buy a gift and what if the person do not likes it? This time, its birthday of my better half and I could not compromise with her in any way. The reason being, she is sweet enough and understands that her husband is not really good shopper. Every time, I end up either being with her while gifting her something, or give my card, saying she can shop as much as can. But deep down my heart, I realize, nothing can every replace the significance of giving something all by own. So having least said, this time, I had made a firm decision that I would be buying something on my own. Trust me …CityWalk is a life saver.

By the time I was thinking of organizing birthday parties in Saket farmhouse, one of my buddies told me about Select CityWalk. He told me that I could search for booking arrangements.  Though this super spacious mall, homes the most sophisticated and best brands in Delhi, however I was not really sure where to walk-in. By the time, I was busy doing window shopping, a white dress grabbed my attention at Zara’s showroom. Though simple, yet had a glimpse of specialty in it. Without wasting much time, I rushed to the showroom, by here comes the twist. The floor assistant said that this is a dummy dress, designed by a designer. But I could get it surely, post placing an order.  Alas! I did not have time, was disappointed, but soon when the floor manager yelled back saying, ‘sir…you can take it’. That was it. He had spoken to his manger and consequentially, I managed to bag off the deal, thorough him. Yipee! I did it! I hope she likes my gift too… :-)

Does chocolate cheers you up?

So, what’s the matter? Once more there’s an extensive range of cuisines, but still you are obsessed with the feeling of something missing in the menu??? Well, fret not or feel anxious in any way! Many of us feel this way. The only difference is a few of us could feel it, whereas rests are too very hooked up in our hectic schedule that hardly gets time to feel the difference.

Well, pizzas, salads, desserts, fresh berries, fruits, mint juice surely are all time favorite, but nothing can ever compensate the choco-craving. It’s been proven that in such atmosphere wherein work and professional obligations keep us intact and stress is apparently all-time buddy, it becomes tough to deal with the same. Well, chocolate is a magical remedy against stress and tension. According to professionals, strikingly contrary to its repo, chocolate is extremely healthy. But yes, it’s not that easy to get the ‘real-chocolate’, ones that come from pure cocoa bean. Well, keeping aside the baggage full of strains behind, it is to inform that chocolicious festival is all set to be organized at Select Citywalk on September 5th to 7th.  Spread in around I lakh sq.ft has its own chain of visitors and the events in malls organized by franchise of repute add on to the sophistication quotient of this mall. Now, you no more need to make and cancel plans for the weekend hangover, you can anytime pop-in to the this one stop Entertainment in Saket destination, select Citywalk and delight your taste buds with exotic chocolicious flavors. If chocolate cheers you up, this one’s for you, if you haven’t had experienced how does it feels of diving in deep to aromatic choco flavors, you’re surly missing on a lot!!! 

Look Good In Your Own Way

Instead of carrying forward to conventional looks, add-in a pinch of creativity to flaunt your way out. Cast a sunny semblance with some bright rainwear accessories and look as gorgeous as you perhaps feel.  Unlike earlier when there were hardly a few options, these days best brands in Delhi have a huge assortment of dresses to choose from. It’s not that difficult to get that perfect look, the only trick that has to be kept in mind is what colours and shades are you have chosen. It can only be accentuated with just the flawless shades and prints. Needless to make a mention of, the moment it comes to monsoons, bright colours strikes the mind.

So whenever you check out Places to shop in Delhi, make sure that you pep up your look with not being a matching queen, opt for juxtaposition of shades to team up things differently, yet smartly. It’s true enough that at times teaming up shades with one other might turn out tricky, but yes, it is certainly not impossible.  Markets are flooded with a range of light and sober fabrics, patterns, shades and designs of monsoon attires. Choose wisely, indeed prior to shopping do a thorough research on what all would be good and then only go for it!

Last but not the least, instead of buying whatever others go for, prefer sticking to your own style statement as it would help you a lot and by the time you won’t feel comfortable in whatever you wear, you just can’t look good!

Don’t Forget To Unwind As You Move On Fast Forward

I had read somewhere, ‘You only live once, and once is enough if you do it properly’- a very apt statement describing the irony of modern life. The pace at which we encounter shift of emotions and situations has outrun life. With the motto of extracting more from each and every second of existence, fun and frolic has taken a back seat in the super mechanical contemporary lifestyle. Families have lost the essence of having some quality time together.
Even the weekends are occupied with household chores and vacations are sparse. One can hardly spare some time for ‘Nothing’. In fact, as days pass, we are caught up in the same old monotonicity of daily life, not realizing that precious moments are passing us by. In a time like this, even the small moments caught over the dinner tables of restaurant in Delhi or while having a cup of tea should be saved and relished.

restaurants in delhi

So, never miss an opportunity to defy rules and steal some time with your loved ones. However, ironically, the shopping malls in India have worked out an effective plan for us but to our own benefits. With every single amenity of need and entertainment, stringed into a single loop, you can efficiently save time and multitask between enjoying and shop for necessities.
While your children enjoy in the kids play zone in New Delhi, you can rush the grocery shopping at departmental stores. But once what’s important is done and the family is ready to unite, you can choose activities of mutual interest, from the available range of options—which is not scarce by any means.
Moreover, you can skip the daily cooking routine and indulge in flavours and hospitality of one of the fine-dine restaurants in Delhi. Then, a movie afterwards can be nice, or if you plan to do something more engaging, then get back to the kids play zone and enjoy a game of pool or snooker.
So, even in this busy routine you can easily snatch away some quiet moments and have some fun.

A Gift for Shoppers and the Shopping Spirit

Select Citywalk :-Delhi Gym
“Shopping is not just a verb.” Sometimes, it is the only way left to show your love and appreciation towards someone who deserves a gift more than anybody else. You should know where to take the beloved partner for an exciting day of shopping.

The best places to shop in Delhi require a special occasion. You can skip the option of finding the right occasion as long as you can keep the fun factor alive. Delhi is the capital of country. It is also a historical place with several markets and monuments worth-visiting.

Shopaholics, Theme-based Markets and Vibrant Culture

You would not find a better option for an extravagant shopping experience anywhere else in the country. It is theme-based markets, lively culture and exuberant way of life which make Delhi the shopping capital as well. Several shopping malls celebrate the undying spirit of city. People have been asked the same question a number of times before. They simply do not have one answer to it.

On the subject of best mall in Delhi, people agree to disagree with one another. They do not want to limit the options by answering the question in a single world.

There is so much to do at some of the top places to shop in Delhi that you would keep on coming back for more. Traditional markets have been the mainstay of shopping culture in the city. They have been able to keep the charm of traditional way of doing shopping alive. It is the combination of street-shops and mall culture which brings a smile upon the faces of local citizens. This is one of the most attractive features of our culture. It adapts to the changing lifestyles, quickly.

Picking Individual Markets to Define the Essence of Shopping

Local citizens have selected certain markets to buy clothes, home furnishing, accessories and eatables. It has been decades that they have been going to same shops and same markets. The legacy continues from one generation to another.

How can we not talk about markets devoted to different cuisines? You cannot give an option to one of the friends to try a different place to buy clothes or eat favorite food somewhere else. You would either be too brave or too naïve to offer such a proposal. A word of caution: Please do not ask a local Delhi citizen to change his favorite eatery or buy from a different store.

People have different places to shop in Delhi and they cherish the opportunity to visit each one of them. However, every single person has his or her favorite market to define how he likes to buy and how he likes to bargain.

A Mall or tourist attraction?

Select Citywalk :- pvr cinemas timings
Located in Saket at the heart of posh South Delhi, Select CITYWALK has become the favorite destination for discerning patrons of the Delhi shopping scene. Jam packed with designer clothing stores, world class food and beverage chains and a plethora of entertainment options to choose from, Select CITYWALK has transcended the tag of being the best mall in Delhi.  It is now a shopping destination, and it even has its own dedicated magazine! It has won practically every award there is time and again in terms of retail and customer satisfaction and continually strives to better their already impressive track record.

At Select CITYWALK there is something for everyone: International clothing brands like Zara, Mango and Armani Jeans for the fashionistas, Starbucks and Barista Lavazza for those looking to simply relax and read a book while sipping coffee and top notch lifestyle brands such as Looks and Aroma Thai for those looking to detox and unwind. It even has a massive outdoor plaza which has been landscaped to perfection for those who do not want to do anything apart from sit on a nemch and watch the world go by. And even then, there is something or the other going on- the outdoor amphitheater has been host to every kind of event and personality imaginable, from Samsung’s product launches to the Holy Cow music festival.

In spite of being one of the best malls in Delhi, Select CITYWALK has not forgotten its debt to society. It has one of the largest CSR campaigns of any corporate organization in India and in 2013 alone, it has played host to almost a dozen cultural programs and donation camps aimed at the upliftment of society and the spread of awareness of various sensitive topics, from flood relief for those affected by flooding in Uttarakhand to spreading the message of women empowerment. It is also the only mall in India to have a kennel for people looking to adopt homeless puppies in support of the NGO ‘People for Animals’.

Select CITYWALK has accomplished way more than simply adding another mall in the Delhi shopping circuit- it has transformed the way we view malls as a whole by leaving the competition miles behind in the dust. Their formula of providing a wholesome experience as opposed to simply a shopping experience seems to have worked with the upper class clientele who frequent the place, and they have set a gold standard in the shopping and retail industry which few can ever hope to match.
